Cart drawer support
Many Shopify themes open a cart drawer, a panel that slides in from the side, when a shopper adds a product. Custom Price Calculator now works with the cart drawer: the shopper stays on the product page, the drawer opens, and the product is shown with its calculated price and the options they chose.
What you need
- A sales-based plan. Cart drawer support is included in all of them. See How Custom Price Calculator pricing works.
- Your store on the Non-Variant Flow (Cart Transform) checkout. If it isn't yet, the app switches it for you when you turn the drawer on. See Cart Transform (Non-Variant) vs the Legacy Variant Flow.
- A theme with a Cart type setting set to Drawer (most Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes, such as Dawn, have one).
- The Custom Price Calculator app embed turned on in your theme.
Good to know
- Included on every sales-based plan. On older flat/legacy plans it appears only when that plan is mapped to include it; otherwise Upgrade sends you to Plans.
- Needs the Non-Variant Flow. Upgrade runs that switch for you when needed.
- New installs that activate a sales-based plan get the drawer on by default; you can turn it off in Settings.
- The card uses one Upgrade button (no separate "switch checkout" dialog on the card).
How to set it up
- In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → Theme settings → Cart, and set Cart type to Drawer. Save.
- Make sure the Custom Price Calculator app embed is on (Theme settings → App embeds).
- In the app, go to Settings → Cart drawer.
- If you see an Upgrade button, click it. If you're not on a sales-based plan yet, it takes you to the plans: pick one and approve it on Shopify's screen. Once it's approved, the app moves your store to the Non-Variant Flow if needed and turns the cart drawer on by itself. If you're already on a sales-based plan, Upgrade moves your store to the Non-Variant Flow and turns the drawer on.
- If there's no Upgrade button, turn on Open the cart drawer on add to cart.
- Test it: open a product with a calculator, choose some options, and click Add to cart.
What you should see
- The cart drawer opens and you stay on the product page.
- The item shows the price the calculator worked out, with the shopper's choices listed under it.
- Shoppers can change their options and add the product again without reloading the page.
Troubleshooting
- The shopper goes to the cart page instead of the drawer. Check that Cart type is set to Drawer in your theme, and that Open the cart drawer on add to cart is on in Settings → Cart drawer in the app.
- Upgrade shows "Couldn't switch your store". Click Upgrade again. If it keeps happening, message us in the chat.
- The drawer shows the wrong price or is missing the options. Refresh the page and try again. If it still happens, send us the product link and a screenshot.
- The drawer doesn't open, or the page reloads. Some themes or cart apps replace the theme's drawer. Send us your theme name and any cart apps you use.
- Still stuck? See Add to cart not working: troubleshooting guide.
