# Build your calculator with AI (Calcy)

<p><strong>Calcy</strong> is the built-in AI assistant inside Apippa Custom Price Calculator. Instead of setting up fields and formulas by hand, you just describe your product in plain English and Calcy builds the calculator for you — then you can tweak anything you like.</p>

<h2>What Calcy does</h2>
<p>Calcy can build <strong>any</strong> calculator you need. There's no fixed list of templates to pick from and no limits on what you can create — you just describe your product and how you price it in plain English, and Calcy builds it for you. It can create a brand-new calculator from scratch or edit an existing one, configuring all the right fields, options, and pricing logic automatically — no code, no developer, no spreadsheets.</p>
<p>If it's a pricing rule you can explain in words, Calcy can build it. A few examples of what merchants ask for:</p>

<li>Price by <strong>area</strong> (length × width) — rugs, wallpaper, flooring, signage</li>
<li>Price by <strong>volume</strong> or <strong>weight</strong></li>
<li>Add a <strong>dropdown</strong> of material or style options</li>
<li>Add a <strong>quantity</strong> field with per-unit or per-size pricing</li>
<li>Charge <strong>per option chosen</strong> (add-ons, upgrades, finishes)</li>
<li>Combine any of these — or something entirely your own — into one product</li>

<h2>How to open Calcy</h2>

<li>In your Shopify admin, open the <strong>Apippa Custom Price Calculator</strong> app.</li>
<li>Open the calculator you want to build or edit (or start a new one).</li>
<li>Click <strong>Build with AI</strong>. The Calcy panel opens with the message: <em>"Hi! I can build or edit your price calculator — just tell me what you need."</em></li>
</ol>
<p>If you're not sure where to begin, Calcy shows <strong>quick-start suggestions</strong> you can tap:</p>
<ul>
<li>Price by area (length × width)</li>
<li>Add a dropdown of options</li>
<li>Add a quantity field</li>
<li>Price per option chosen</li>
</ul>

<h2>How to use it</h2>
<ol>
<li>In the box that says <strong>"Describe what you want to build or change…"</strong>, type what you sell and how it's priced. Be specific about numbers and options.</li>
<li>Press <strong>Enter</strong> to send (use <strong>Shift + Enter</strong> for a new line).</li>
<li>Calcy builds the fields and pricing formula and shows you the result.</li>
<li>Review it, then ask for changes in plain English — or fine-tune it yourself in the editor.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>Examples of what to type:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>"I sell custom blinds priced by width × height. Add a dropdown for material (aluminum, wood, faux wood) and a checkbox for edge-seal tape."</li>
<li>"Price custom rugs by square foot. Let customers pick a shape (rectangle, round, runner) and add a felt-pad upgrade."</li>
<li>"Wallpaper priced per roll based on wall length and height, with a quantity field and a paste-included option."</li>
</ul>
<p>The more detail you give — units, options, and any add-on charges — the closer Calcy gets on the first try.</p>

<h2>Tips for the best results</h2>
<ul>
<li><strong>Name your units.</strong> Say "per square foot," "per inch," "per roll," so pricing is exact.</li>
<li><strong>List your options.</strong> Spell out dropdown choices and which ones change the price.</li>
<li><strong>Add-ons are easy.</strong> Mention any extra charges ("add $X for…") and Calcy wires them in — you set the actual amounts in the editor.</li>
<li><strong>Iterate.</strong> You don't have to get it perfect in one message. Ask Calcy to "add," "remove," or "change" anything.</li>
<li><strong>You're always in control.</strong> Calcy sets things up; you can edit every field, option, and formula afterward.</li>

<h2>Editing an existing calculator</h2>
<p>Calcy isn't just for new builds. Open any existing calculator, click <strong>Build with AI</strong>, and ask for a change:</p>

<li>"Add a quantity field and give a 10% discount for orders over 50 units."</li>
<li>"Add a color dropdown and make 'premium' cost more."</li>
</ul>
<p>Calcy applies the change to your current calculator, and you can review it before saving.</p>

<h2>What if I don't have Calcy yet?</h2>
<p>Calcy is being rolled out to stores in stages, so it may not be in your admin yet. That's expected — nothing is wrong with your account.</p>
<p>In the meantime you have two options:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Build it yourself, manually.</strong> Every calculator Calcy can create can also be built by hand in the app. Add your fields, choose your input types (dropdown, quantity, area, upload, and more), and set your pricing rules directly.</li>
<li><strong>Let us set it up for you.</strong> Click <strong>Contact support</strong> (or use the <strong>Need help?</strong> link in the app) and tell us what you sell and how you price it. We'll build your calculator for you — free.</li>
</ol>
<p>As soon as Calcy reaches your store, you'll see the <strong>Build with AI</strong> button appear on your calculator screen.</p>

<p><strong>Do I need to know how to code?</strong><br>No. Calcy is built for merchants — you describe your product in plain language and it handles the setup.</p>
<p><strong>Will Calcy overwrite my current calculator?</strong><br>When you ask Calcy to edit an existing calculator, you can review the change before saving. You stay in control.</p>
<p><strong>Can I edit what Calcy builds?</strong><br>Yes. Calcy gives you a head start; every field, option, and formula remains fully editable in the app.</p>
